Teething is always a rough time for both babies and their parents. Luckily, there are tons of great remedies that will help bring your baby some relief; many of which exist in your very own home. We found some helpful teething pain solutions, including simple foods or kitchen items. Try these tips for your teething baby:

  1. Teething Biscuit

These hard, unsweetened, cracker-like biscuits are great for gnawing on when teeth are making their way through the gums.

  1. Dishtowel

Wrap some ice in a dishtowel and let baby suck on the towel when they are noticeably uncomfortable from their growing teeth. The cold ice will keep swelling down and ease baby's pain and discomfort. Just make sure there’s no ice exposed while doing this, as it can harm your baby’s delicate gums.

  1. Frozen Banana

Leave a banana in the freezer a while to instantly turn it into a natural home teething remedy for your child. This will not only help to soothe the pain for teething, but it’s also a deliciously sweet treat for them to enjoy.

  1. Applesauce

Cold foods like straight-from-the-fridge applesauce taste good and are gum-friendly. While your child clearly won’t be able to teeth with such a soft food, the cold sensation on their gums will definitely help.

  1. Bagel

Refrigerate an ordinary bagel, and it will become your very own homemade teething ring. It's great for babies to gum on while they're getting teeth in and can help ease that teething ache.

  1. Baby Bottle

Another trick for helping baby during teething is to put water in a baby bottle and freeze the bottle upside down (so the water is frozen at the nipple). Give it to the baby when he or she gets fussy, and let them chew on the cold, comforting nipple for a while.

  1. Fruit

You might try giving the baby apple wedges, or for younger babies, apple wedges placed in a washcloth that you hold. There are a handful of delicious fruits that your baby would love to use as a natural teething remedy.

  1. Washcloth

Put a clean, wet washcloth or towel in the refrigerator, and let it get cold. Then give it to Junior, and let him gnaw away on the cloth. This will help ease inflamed gums and will just plain feel good in baby's mouth.

  1. Carrot

Get a carrot -- a full-sized carrot, not miniature "baby" carrots -- out of the fridge, wash it thoroughly or peel it, and let your baby gum it to her heart's content.

Silkberry Baby is an organic baby clothing brand located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Developed by Carrie Shan, a mother of two young children, the range was conceived to create a baby bedding and clothing product range as her daughter had an allergic reaction to synthetic fibres. After much research, she sourced natural, eco-friendly and sustainable fibers (mulberry silk floss and bamboo) that she found to be the best natural choices available for baby and toddlers' bedding and clothing.
